Create your own beautiful floating-flame in a few easy steps

Step 1
Select your favorite glass, bowl, vase or any decorative container. To avoid cracking the glass should have an open top and the sides should not curve over the flame. Fill your glass with cold water in desired height. To shelter the flame from drafts select a water level well below the rim of the glass. Allow enough space to add vegetable oil.

Step 2
Use your individual fantasy to decorate or color the water to your liking. With each glass you create a unique and individual floating-flame.

Step 3
Gently pour food grade vegetable oil over the water. The oil will float on the water. Make sure the entire surface of water is covered by approx.5 10 mm. The quantity of oil will influence the burning time. Warning: Never use lamp oil, any petroleum based fluids or mineral oils.

Step 4
Cut 18 mm cotton wick and insert into the center of the float. Do not cut or pierce the wick holder in the center. The float is designed to be closed towards the bottom as otherwise the wick would get in contact with the water and cannot burn.

Step 5
Drop the float on top of the oil. Make sure that wick is in upright position. The oil flows over the float through the grooves to the wick. Important: Wait approx. 10 seconds until wick has absorbed oil.

Step 6
Now light the wick and enjoy your self created dream light.

Step 7
Each floating-flame should burn at least 10 hours, provided there is sufficient oil to fuel it. Pure vegetable oil burns odorless and without smoke. The floating-flame extinguishes automatically when the oil is burned off and water reaches the wick over the grooves in the float.

Step 8
To extinguish at any time simply submerge the float with the wick by a tooth-pick, cutlery or similar and you will avoid smoke. Floating-flame is 100 % unsinkable and will always buoy up to the surface. You may simply light it again. Clean with warm water and detergent. Floats can be re-used again and again.
